Dr Kozar’s  Philosophy

My goal is to provide the highest quality, integrated, non-operative care with an exceptionally personal level of service for persons with sports injuries and other non-surgical musculoskeletal problems. I strive ensure that not only do you completely understand your diagnosis but also that you understand the proposed treatment plan. I am an Osteopathic Physicians and I practice Osteopathic Philosophy, meaning I look at the entire person to help diagnose the reason for pain or injury. For example, a problem in your ankle or hip may be the root cause of the shoulder tendonitis you developed.

Surgery, Most Often, is Not the Answer for Sports Injuries and Painful Musculoskeletal Conditions

My emphasis is on non-surgical treatment because there are many non-surgical solutions for musculoskeletal problems. Over 90% or sports injuries do not require surgery. Most conditions such as arthritis can be effectively managed non-surgically with a multi-modality, whole body approach.

I have been using some form of Regenerative Medicine since I was a Sports Medicine resident back in 2001. I believe the body has most of the tools to self heal, but often just needs a boost or repetitive stimulus to carry out that healing. In my treatment approach, I believe it is always better to try and stimulate the local tissue of an injury to heal while addressing the functional biomechanics of the body, before considering destructive procedure that kill tissue or remove it and leave the same problematic biomechanics untouched.

However, that does not mean that I am against surgery! When done for the right reasons and under the right circumstances, surgery may in fact, may be the best option, and I will refer for surgical consultations when I believe it is indicated. But often there are alternatives to surgery that patients—and even some physicians—may not be aware of.

I like to discuss your situation with you and introduce you to our non-surgical treatments for sports injuries and painful musculoskeletal conditions. Please contact us to set up an appointment.
